Our Timeline

Taste For Adventure has come a long way over the years. Our founder Brummie and his wife Lynn have transformed so many lives. This is a brief outline of our key achievements to date.

Taste for Adventure was founded!

We opened our first residential centre with 5 acres of land in May 1997

The Boulder Barn opened with support from the HYO fund.

We enhanced our facilities with Sport England support.

Next Step

We began the search for a new location within the city limits.

The new Boulder Barn facility is now open for all!

Meet the team

Our bespoke built bouldering walls offer hundreds of routes, suitable for all skill levels. Meet our lovely Boulder Barn Climbing team. We want to be approachable to everyone. Each team member has been asked to give a brief write up on themselves, their passions and (brief) history.

Angie is one of the main stays of Taste for adventure. With over 13 years of experience of working with ‘Brummie’ she is more than capable of keeping everything in order assuring the smooth running of an adventure Centre. Angie took up walking with the instructors and some of the groups that came through the centre. Developing her skills in map reading it wasn’t long before Angie was in a walking group with like minded ladies all taking on the challenge of the three peaks. This experience bode well for future treks to Morocco taking on the Atlas Mountains, and more recently trekking the Annapurna circuit in Nepal. Angie returned to Taste for Adventure after a three year absence. The workload she took on to make the Boulder Barn the place to climb has been inspiring. Always focused on how proud ‘Brummie’ would be of what has been achieved here has been her motivation.

He is a qualified IRATA level 3 supervisor and has worked in the off-shore oil and gas industry. He now runs his own company, Skywalkers rope access Ltd. He is proud of what his Dad achieved in his life and has enjoyed the challenge of working to help set up this new facility in memory of ‘Brummie’.
